Saturday Night Live UK's latest episode opened with a sketch featuring Oasis as Russian spies. The parody saw new cast member Freddie Meredith and Jack Shep play Liam and Noel Gallagher, who attempted to steal Prime Minister Andy Burnham's personal details.
In the sketch, George Fouracres played Burnham in his new Number 10 North office in Manchester. The fictional Prime Minister, fresh from discussing Russian cyber attacks at the UN General Assembly, was meeting Angela Rayner, played by Celeste Dring, when the fake Gallaghers arrived.
The sketch included a joke about Manchester City reportedly being found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought by the Premier League, suggesting the Etihad Stadium might be "repossessed" before Oasis's upcoming shows there. The fake Gallaghers then revealed their true identities as Russian agents after tricking Burnham into entering sensitive information online.
This parody comes as the reunited Manchester band, Oasis, is in the midst of ticket sales for their 'Live '27' tour. The tour includes an 11-night residency at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, alongside dates in Glasgow, mainland Europe, the US, Slane Castle, and Knebworth. Extra dates were added recently in Knebworth, Munich, and Rome due to high demand.
