European vice-captain Mel Reid has strongly refuted claims that Charley Hull's late arrival for a Solheim Cup practice tee time on Tuesday was due to overindulgence. Online speculation arose after a clip showed Hull jokingly blaming "drinks" from the previous night, though she also appeared to point towards her caddie.
Reid clarified that Hull, who is teetotal, was in bed by 8pm on Monday and was the first on the team bus. The vice-captain took responsibility for the delay, explaining that Hull believed her tee time was slightly later and that it is challenging to get her off the practice range.
European captain Anna Nordqvist confirmed that Hull was given permission to arrive in the Netherlands later than her teammates, having prepared at home in England. Nordqvist stated she told other players to proceed, knowing Hull would catch up.
