Clarke Century Leads Nottinghamshire Recovery Against Hampshire

Nottinghamshire, currently four points behind County Championship leaders Somerset, posted 377 on the first day of their match against Hampshire at Trent Bridge. Joe Clarke was the standout performer, scoring 105 runs, his fourth century of the season, after Nottinghamshire found themselves in early trouble at 20-3.

Clarke formed crucial partnerships, adding 78 runs for the third wicket with Jack Haynes (48) and 136 with Mitchell Hay, who made 49 on his county debut. Liam Patterson-White also contributed significantly with 92 runs, securing three batting points for his side.

Hampshire's Kyle Abbott was a key figure with the ball, taking 4-82, which brought his season's wicket total to 57. Scott Currie also claimed 4-61. At the close of play, Hampshire were 12-0 in their first innings.
