Aston Villa clinched their first victory of the season in an eventful Champions League match against Club Brugge. The team held a 3-1 lead after 43 minutes, ultimately emerging victorious from the opener.

John McGinn opened the scoring for Villa, followed by goals from Emi Buendía and Nicolas Jackson, who netted his first for the club. Pau Torres played a key role in two of Villa's initial three goals.

Club Brugge responded with a goal from Hugo Vetlesen. However, Villa's two-goal advantage was challenged in the second half when Aaron Wan-Bissaka conceded a penalty, converted by Nicolò Tresoldi. Despite the pressure, Villa maintained their lead.

Manager Unai Emery, who had aimed to project positivity despite a slow start to the Premier League season, was visibly animated on the touchline during the match.
