A Somerset haulage operator's licence hangs in the balance after its director was caught falsifying drivers' hours records. TMA Haulage Ltd is facing revocation of its operating licence following an investigation into tachograph fraud by Andrew Tucker, its sole director and transport manager.
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) launched the probe after receiving intelligence on Mr Tucker's alleged misconduct. Analysis revealed that he had used a former employee's driver card multiple times between 2025 and 2026. This included using Bradley Baulf's card on three separate occasions in June and July 2025, and again in April 2026.
Mr Tucker initially denied the allegations but later admitted to driving while another driver’s card was inserted into the vehicle unit. The public inquiry in Bristol heard that he had breached road safety regulations by falsifying records. As a result, Commissioner Rooney concluded that Mr Tucker had lost his good repute as a transport manager and issued an indefinite disqualification from acting in that capacity.
The haulage operator's Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) driving entitlement has been revoked for 12 months, while TMA Haulage’s operator licence was immediately curtailed from five vehicles to four. The business will no longer be considered professional and competent until a replacement transport manager is appointed by 6 October 2026.
A second revocation order will take effect on the same date unless Mr Tucker's shareholding is reduced to 50% or less, and he is replaced as statutory director by an individual demonstrating genuine control of the business. Former driver Bradley Baulf has had his vocational entitlement revoked indefinitely for his involvement in the card misuse.
