Somerset Lead County Championship Title Race as Durham Secure Promotion

Somerset have taken the lead in the County Championship title race following a commanding 377-run victory over Leicestershire. Openers Josh Thomas and Tom Lammonby set the tone with a 181-run stand, contributing to a significant advantage. Lewis Gregory, Craig Overton, and Jack Leach then combined for nine second-innings wickets to secure 22 points for Somerset.

Meanwhile, Durham have sealed their promotion to Division One for the 2027 season. They overcame Middlesex, who initially troubled them, with Ben Raine and Callum Parkinson making crucial runs and Brydon Carse taking a nine-wicket match haul.

The title race remains tight, with Nottinghamshire aiming to retain the pennant after defeating Hampshire. Warwickshire are also in contention, just one point behind Nottinghamshire and four from the top, following their second consecutive win against Glamorgan.

In Division Two, Kent and Northamptonshire are battling for the second promotion spot. Northamptonshire secured a win against Worcestershire, with Saif Zaib hitting a vital century and captain Luke Procter delivering strong bowling figures.
