Axel Rudakubana, who is serving a life sentence for the murders of three girls in Southport in 2024, has been charged with multiple assaults on prison staff, police have stated.

Rudakubana, now 19, faces charges including attempted grievous bodily harm in connection with an incident in May 2025, and assault on an emergency worker two days earlier. He is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon in prison and another count of assault on an emergency worker, according to the Metropolitan Police.

He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 11 September. Rudakubana was recently transferred from prison to Broadmoor psychiatric hospital after it was determined he could not be safely managed in a prison environment.
