Axel Rudakubana, who is serving a life sentence for the murders of three young girls in 2024, is due to face trial next year over alleged attacks on prison officers.
Mr Rudakubana appeared via videolink at the Old Bailey on Monday, 19 October 2026. He has been charged with attempted grievous bodily harm of a prison officer, two other assaults of officers, and possession of a knife or other offensive weapon.
The charges relate to separate alleged incidents last year at HMP Belmarsh in south London. It is alleged that on 8 May last year, he threw hot water mixed with sugar through a hatch in his cell door. Two days prior, on 6 May, he allegedly threw liquid at a female officer after threatening to "soak" her if she did not provide a newspaper. Mr Rudakubana is also alleged to have punched a male officer on 28 October last year.
The charge of possessing an offensive weapon relates to sharpened stone shards, which the prosecution states had seemingly been prised from the floor of his cell. Mr Rudakubana was moved from HMP Belmarsh to Broadmoor high-security psychiatric hospital in July.
