Spain has set a new tourism record, welcoming more than 58.1 million international arrivals in the first seven months of 2026. This figure represents a 4.6 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, according to Frontur figures from Spain’s National Statistics Institute (INE).
Of these visitors, 11.5 million were from the UK. France contributed nearly 7.2 million arrivals, and Germany accounted for 6.9 million. In July alone, Spain saw 11.5 million international tourists, also a 4.6 per cent rise from July 2025.
The Balearic Islands were the top destination for tourists in July, attracting 22.3 per cent of visitors. Catalonia followed with 20.6 per cent, and Andalusia with 14.6 per cent. The most common length of stay for tourists was seven nights.
New research by Deloitte and Google suggests Spain could potentially surpass France as the world's most visited country by 2040, with an estimated 110 million inbound arrivals. France, which recorded 102 million annual international visitors in 2025, is projected to reach 105 million visitors by 2040.
