St Helens secured a 36-12 victory over Castleford Tigers in the Betfred Super League, a result that keeps their slim play-off aspirations alive. The win came despite their captain, Jackson Hastings, being dismissed with a red card for punching Tyler Dupree.

Hastings' red card meant St Helens finished the match with 10 players, as Alex Walmsley and Chris Matagi were also shown yellow cards later in the game. St Helens scored six tries through Jack Welsby, Shane Wright, Jacob Douglas, Tom Humphreys, Harry Robertson, and Nene Macdonald.

Castleford's points came from tries by Louis Senior and Phoenix Laulu-Togaga'e. This defeat for Castleford followed the club's announcement a day prior that head coach Ryan Carr had departed for "personal reasons."

Despite the win, St Helens likely need to win their three remaining regular games to avoid missing the play-offs for the first time in Super League history.
