Promotion favourites Durham have secured a crushing 338-run victory over Derbyshire in the County Championship, wrapping up the match inside three days. Former England Test captain Ben Stokes delivered a stellar all-round performance, hitting an unbeaten 66 runs from 55 balls and taking 5-17 with the ball.
Ben McKinney, the 21-year-old opener, was instrumental with an innings of 140 from 162 balls, including 15 fours and six sixes. This marked his second Championship century of the summer.
Durham declared on 295-6, setting Derbyshire a notional 423 for victory. Derbyshire had earlier been bowled out for 156, with England paceman Matthew Potts taking 5-46. In their second innings, Derbyshire collapsed to 84 all out, suffering their heaviest margin of defeat by runs in their history. Potts claimed 3-22, becoming the leading wicket-taker in the Championship, while Stokes took three wickets in four balls during Derbyshire's second innings.
