Stolen puppy reunited with owners a year after theft

A springer spaniel puppy, stolen over a year ago, has been reunited with her owners after being found abandoned with a severe eye injury.

  • Breeze, a springer spaniel, was stolen in August 2025 as a 10-week-old puppy.
  • She was found abandoned in Berkshire in September 2026 and required an eye removal due to mistreatment.
  • Breeze's owners were identified via her microchip.

A springer spaniel puppy stolen over a year ago has been reunited with her owner. Breeze was taken in August 2025 from Stratfield Saye, Hampshire, when she was 10 weeks old.

Earlier this month, Breeze was found abandoned near a Thames Water treatment site in Shurlock Row, Berkshire, approximately 20 miles from where she was stolen. She had a severe eye injury and was described as looking "terrified" by a Thames Water worker who reported her on 13 September.

Now 15 months old, Breeze is recovering at home, but her eye injury necessitated its removal. Her owners were identified by her microchip after the RSPCA's animal rescue officer Sam Matthews contacted Adam.

Adam stated he had seen social media posts about an injured spaniel in Berkshire but did not initially connect them to Breeze. He expressed his disbelief and happiness at her return, noting that her tail is wagging and she appears content to be home with his family and other dogs.
