More than 50 power cuts have hit Northern Ireland as Storm Dave batters the region with winds reaching 70mph, leaving thousands of homes without electricity.
A Met Office yellow warning covers all of Northern Ireland, with gusts of 50-60mph expected inland and up to 70mph along exposed coastal areas. The severe conditions are hampering engineers' efforts to safely access and repair damaged power lines.
Power NI engineers are working to restore electricity where conditions allow, with the company urging customers to check their website for updates and report new outages. The challenging weather is making repair work particularly dangerous in many areas.
Whilst Northern Ireland bears the worst of Storm Dave, unsettled weather is affecting other parts of the UK. North-west England faces localised heavy showers, western Scotland is experiencing rain and strong winds, and Wales is seeing blustery conditions with scattered downpours.
Temperatures remain mild at 8-12°C across most areas, though wind chill will make it feel considerably colder. The Met Office has advised residents to secure loose outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas, and watch for debris.
The yellow warning is expected to remain until late evening, with conditions forecast to ease gradually overnight.
