The Met Office has issued a snow and ice weather warning for the entire UK as Storm Goretti approaches the region. The warning, which is in place from 00:01 GMT on 19 May until 23:59 GMT on 20 May, covers all four nations - England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Residents are advised to prepare for hazardous conditions, including heavy snowfall, strong winds, and potential power outages. The Met Office has warned that roads may become impassable, and some communities may be cut off due to the severe weather.
According to the Met Office's forecast, the worst of the weather is expected to hit the north of England, where snowfall is expected to be heaviest. Temperatures will plummet to as low as 2°C in some areas, with wind speeds reaching up to 60mph.
In Scotland, the Met Office has warned of 'blizzard-like conditions' in the Highlands, with snowfall expected to be heavy and persistent. Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.
