Officials from Australia's National Rugby League (NRL) have arrived in England to engage in discussions with Super League clubs. This follows ongoing talks throughout the year regarding a potential deal where the NRL would invest a significant sum into Super League.
The proposed investment aims to transform Super League's long-term fortunes and ensure the financial security of its clubs, with the NRL reportedly taking authoritative control of the competition. Multiple clubs have confirmed visits from Australian officials or anticipate them soon, indicating a desire to gauge club sentiment regarding the investment proposal.
Rhodri Jones, Super League's leading official, stated that he is "very hopeful that we'll make some significant progress with the NRL over the next seven days." He added that the NRL, having finalised its own broadcast deal, now appears to be prioritising the Super League investment.
In other news, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves have confirmed they will play a Super League match in Dublin in 2027. This announcement was made by Wigan's CEO, Kris Radlinski, who also reiterated strong support for the potential NRL deal.
