People have been advised to avoid Keepers Pond, a popular beauty spot in Abergavenny, due to "serious safety risks" caused by reduced water levels. Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, also known as the Brecon Beacons, stated that previously hidden hazards have been exposed on the pond bed.
The park authority attributed the low water levels to a prolonged dry spell and water being used to tackle recent wildfires. Visitors are instructed not to enter the water under any circumstances, with the restriction applying to all activities on or in the water, including swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking.
The national park has also asked visitors not to remove, disturb, or interfere with any objects or features revealed by the low water levels. The car park at the beauty spot remains open.
