Sydney Trains are experiencing widespread cancellations and delays across multiple lines this morning, 24 August 2026. The disruption is due to urgent overhead wiring repairs at Chatswood.
Transport for NSW has arranged "limited" buses to replace trains for Sydney's north shore, specifically between Gordon and Chatswood. An unscheduled rail shuttle service is operating between Hornsby and Gordon in both directions.
Trains that typically terminate at North Sydney and Berowra are running as scheduled, while services normally ending or starting from Lindfield and Gordon will now end or start from North Sydney. Some services have been cancelled to reduce congestion and avoid longer delays.
Commuters are advised that their morning journey may take an additional 45 minutes. Impacts are also affecting the T1 Western Line, intercity services, and the Central Coast Line. A Sydney Trains spokesperson suggested that those travelling from the north, through Hornsby, could consider options via Strathfield or connect with the Metro at Epping.
