Tanzid hits maiden Test century as Bangladesh dominate Australia

Tanzid scored his maiden Test century and Shanto reached a half-century, as Bangladesh continued to dominate Australia on day two of the first Test in Darwin.

  • Tanzid scored his maiden Test century, reaching 100 runs.
  • Shanto achieved his 16th Test half-century, scoring 50 runs.
  • Bangladesh claimed their fourth consecutive session against Australia.

Tanzid celebrated his magnificent maiden Test century, reaching 100 runs for Bangladesh against Australia. His opening partner, Shanto, also passed 50 for the 16th time in Tests, calmly driving Lyon down the ground for a single.

Bangladesh reached 230-2 in the 64th over, with Tanzid on 100 and Shanto on 50. The tourists have now claimed their fourth consecutive session, leading the hosts with eight first innings wickets remaining.

Australia's bowlers struggled to make an impact on a pitch offering little sideways movement and consistent, slow, loopy bounce. Captain Cummins has kept spells short in the heat and humidity, but the team has created few openings.
