Andrew and Tristan Tate appeared in a Florida court, arguing for their release from jail while they fight extradition to the UK. They face charges including rape and trafficking, which they deny.
During Thursday's hearing, the brothers criticised their detention conditions in US custody. Tristan Tate described his conditions as small and hot, with little sunlight and exercise, stating he had lost 14lb (6.3kg).
Government lawyers argued the Tates are a flight risk, citing claims they had bragged about multiple passports. However, defence attorneys contended their high public profile would make escape almost impossible.
US Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis is expected to issue a written ruling at a later date regarding bail for the dual British-US citizens. The British Embassy has filed court documents requesting the judge keep the Tates in custody.
The UK authorities have until 16 September to submit a full extradition request. The charges against the Tates include 21 filed last year and 38 additional counts last month, involving seven accusers.
