Mary Falconer, a 15-year-old from Haverfordwest, is pursuing her ambition to compete at the 2028 Olympics in climbing. Despite being a top youth climber in the UK with multiple national and regional podium finishes, Falconer intends to represent her mother's native Romania at the Games.
Falconer, who began bouldering three years ago to cope with her mother's death, has already been accepted by the Romanian team. She is scheduled to compete in two European climbing events this summer, in addition to Romania's national championships later in the year.
Her father, Richard, described her dedication, noting he built a gym at their home where she often trains until the early hours. He stated that sport provided his daughter with a way of expressing herself and gave her focus and purpose.
