A teenage girl has died at the Kendal Calling festival, Cumbria Police have confirmed. The 17-year-old suffered a medical episode at approximately 02:15 BST on Sunday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cumbria Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. They are appealing for witnesses, particularly a group of women who alerted first responders to the girl's welfare, and anyone who was near the Calling Out tent and the Big Wheel around the time of the incident.
The girl's family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. A spokesperson for Kendal Calling stated that the festival team is deeply saddened by the death and is assisting authorities with their investigation. They added that on-site security and medical teams immediately attended to the individual and provided emergency care.
