Teenage killer posts video from prison boasting about murder

A 19-year-old convicted of murder has reportedly posted a video from HMP Polmont, appearing to boast about his crime.

  • Jay Stewart, 19, who was given a life sentence for murder, reportedly posted a video from prison.
  • The video, filmed in HMP Polmont and posted on Snapchat, allegedly shows Stewart rapping about the killing.
  • The Scottish Prison Service is reportedly investigating the matter after an anonymous report.

Jay Stewart, 19, a teenager convicted of murder, has reportedly posted a video online from jail. The footage, filmed in a cell at HMP Polmont and shared on Snapchat, allegedly shows Stewart topless, masked, and rapping about the killing of Kayden Moy.

Stewart, along with Cole Turley, 18, pleaded guilty to the murder of Kayden Moy on Irvine Beach in May last year and received life sentences last week. A third teenager, 15, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be detained for a minimum of 14 years.

The video reportedly features Stewart referring to Kayden Moy and claiming he will kill again once released. The Scottish Prison Service is understood to be investigating the matter after it was reported anonymously.

Kayden Moy's father, Paul Moy, stated online he was "devastated" by the video and called for a full investigation by the prison service. A spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service said they understand the distress such videos can cause and are working to prevent illicit items, including mobile phones, from entering prisons.

Why this matters: The incident raises questions about security within prisons and the impact on victims' families.
