Lhamo Weston, an 18-year-old powerlifter from Redditch, won two gold medals at the World Sub-Junior & Junior Powerlifting Championships in South Africa last month. She also secured a silver and a bronze medal across three events in the Under 57kg category.
Weston achieved these results despite an endometriosis flare-up, which caused her significant pain and issues with making weight before the competition. She stated that the condition can affect her training with pain, tiredness, and back pain.
Diagnosed last year, Weston has been dealing with endometriosis since she was 12. She uses social media to speak openly about the condition and being a young woman in powerlifting, aiming to empower others and increase awareness. Endometriosis affects one in 10 women in the UK.
