A traumatic crash near Eastbourne has claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy, leaving three others with serious injuries. The two-vehicle collision occurred on June 26 at approximately 9:30 PM, close to Shooters Bottom car park by Beachy Head, a notoriously hazardous stretch of road.
The deceased teenager was a passenger in one vehicle, while the 19-year-old and 21-year-old men from Polegate and Hellingly, respectively, were also travelling in that car. The driver of the second vehicle, a 21-year-old man, sustained serious injuries requiring hospital treatment.
Sussex Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward as their serious collision investigation unit works to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Detective Sergeant Ian Foxton, leading the inquiry, stated that multiple individuals may have been present in the area at the time of the collision and urged anyone with information or relevant footage to make contact.
The force is particularly keen to receive dashcam footage or video recordings from the vicinity of Shooters Bottom car park around the time of the incident. Members of the public who have not yet spoken to officers are encouraged to assist with the ongoing investigation by getting in touch.
