Teenager loses eye in alleged bottle attack at Blackpool party

A 17-year-old has lost his right eye after an alleged bottle attack at a party in Blackpool. JJ Shingleton was reportedly glassed with a vodka bottle at a gathering in Bond Street on Saturday.

Lancashire Police were called to reports of an assault at approximately 01:50 BST on Sunday. A 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and has since been released on bail, pending further enquiries.

JJ, who is in remission from cancer, has undergone two operations, which resulted in the removal of his right eye. His uncle, Louis Sumner, speaking on behalf of the family, stated that the incident was initially described as life-threatening.

The family is appealing for anyone with information, including photos or videos from the party, to contact the police.
