Teenage snooker sensation Stan Moody has delivered a significant upset at the British Open, knocking out four-time champion John Higgins with a 4-2 victory in the last-16. The 19-year-old's impressive performance in Cheltenham sees him advance to the quarter-finals for the second consecutive year.
Halifax-born Moody established leads of 1-0 and 2-1, with Higgins, 51, levelling the score on both occasions. Moody then pulled ahead 3-2 with a break of 46, before sealing the win in the sixth frame with a clearance of 69, despite Scottish veteran Higgins initially leading 61-0.
Moody is now set to face fellow Englishman Liam Highfield in the quarter-finals. Other players who have progressed include Judd Trump, who swept past David Gilbert 4-0, and Cheltenham's Jack Lisowski, who triumphed 4-1 over Lyu Haotian and will play Mark Selby on Friday.
