African defence technology firm Terra Industries announced on Monday an additional $18 million in funding, bringing its seed round to a total of $52 million. Investors in this round include 8VC, Silent Ventures, and Nova Global.
Since its launch in 2024, Terra Industries has focused on developing autonomous systems and other defence infrastructure, such as drones and mine-detecting combat vehicles. The company states it is on track to secure $100 million in contracts, including at least one federal contract, and generate tens of millions of dollars in revenue by the end of the year.
Terra plans to use the new capital to expand its manufacturing operations across the Global South, open an office in London, increase its workforce, and accelerate product deployment. The company also hopes to establish a presence in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. to access capital and U.S. partnerships.
