Tesla's new Cybercab autonomous vehicle will not permit minors under the age of 13 to ride, according to details released by the company. This policy is more restrictive than that for Tesla's Model Y robotaxis, which allow children aged 8 to 17 to ride.
The Cybercab also lacks standard LATCH anchors for child seats, instead requiring seat belt attachment. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult in both Cybercabs and Model Y robotaxis.
In the event of a crash, Cybercab airbags will inflate, doors will unlock, and hazard lights will activate. The vehicle will apply brakes to stop, and the infotainment system will initiate a two-way connection with Tesla's rider support team. The Cybercab uses electronic door latches, with a manual release located on the armrest of each door.
Additionally, the Cybercab features a brake-by-wire system, which uses electronic actuators to control brake calipers instead of a hydraulic system. The vehicle's windows cannot be fully opened at this time, and USB-C outlets reportedly provide 90W of power.
