TfL's long-awaited Weekend Hopper scheme launches this Saturday, 25th July 2026, bringing cheaper bus and tram travel to Londoners and visitors. With millions set to benefit from more affordable weekend journeys, the initiative aims to make the most of public transport in the capital on Saturdays and Sundays.
From this weekend, passengers can make an unlimited number of bus and tram journeys within a 60-minute window for the price of a single fare, paid using contactless debit or credit cards or Oyster cards. This means that instead of being charged individually up to the daily cap, multiple short journeys become free – as long as your last tap-in is within 60 minutes of your first.
The Weekend Hopper scheme applies exclusively to travel on Saturdays and Sundays, providing a welcome boost for those making connections between bus routes or switching between buses and trams for leisure activities, shopping, or socialising. By reducing the cost of short journeys, TfL hopes to make weekend exploration more accessible and appealing, potentially lifting local high streets and attractions.
The new scheme forms part of TfL's efforts to support London's economic recovery and encourage people back onto public transport.
