The Beatles' classic 1965 album, 'Rubber Soul', is set for an expanded reissue, which will include a previously unreleased demo from John Lennon.
The new versions of the album are scheduled for release on October 2, mixed by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell. For the first time in over six decades, the record will be available in new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes.
Variations of the reissue include a Special Edition Standard with 14 songs, a Special Edition Deluxe with 30 tracks, and a Blu-ray Edition with 16 tracks and four videos. The most extensive option, the Special Edition Super Deluxe, will offer 68 tracks across either a 5-LP or 4-CD box-set. This includes the new stereo mix, two discs of sessions and demos, the original mono master, and the original Capitol US version.
Among the demos is a song called 'Little Girl', written and recorded by Lennon, which has remained unreleased until now. The Super Deluxe editions also come with an 88-page hardbound book, featuring an introduction by Paul McCartney and a foreword compiled from Lennon’s own words.
The new formats of the reissue will feature the album’s new stereo mix, created using de-mixing technology from Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films Productions Ltd, sourced directly from the original four-track master tapes.
