Three people have been arrested following a multi-vehicle crash on the A8 near Edinburgh Airport on Monday, 8 September 2026, in which a woman died. Police Scotland stated that two women, aged 23 and 19, and a 32-year-old man were detained in connection with the incident.
The crash, which involved four vehicles, occurred at approximately 09:25 near Newbridge. A 58-year-old woman, who was driving a Hyundai i30, was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other individuals were taken to hospital but were later released.
Officers had previously been attempting to locate the occupants of a grey Mercedes A250 who reportedly left the scene on foot. Sgt Mike Thomson said that inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.
