A Mexican judge has sentenced three men to 158 years and nine months in jail each for the murders of Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, and their US friend Carter Rhoad. The guilty verdict was handed down last week.
The court heard that the Robinsons and Rhoad were killed in 2024 during an apparent botched robbery of their truck on a secluded beach in Baja California while on a surfing trip. Their bodies were later found dumped down a well with gunshot wounds to their heads.
The convicted killers were identified only as Jesús Gerardo, Irineo Francisco, and Ángel Jesús for legal reasons. In November last year, the girlfriend of alleged ringleader Jesús Gerardo was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a separate trial after admitting involvement in the robbery.
