Golf legend Tiger Woods was observed practicing his tee shots on Tuesday morning at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey. Footage of the session has led to questions regarding a potential return to professional competition, although Woods has not made any commitment.
Woods is in New Jersey to host The Nexus Cup, an amateur team tournament benefiting his TGR Foundation. During a clinic for spectators, he addressed the state of his game, which has been affected by medical and legal challenges, stating, "I can hit pretty much anything."
This appearance comes nearly two weeks after a hearing in Florida, where Woods pleaded no contest to willful, wanton and reckless driving and refusing a urine test following a March car crash. He accepted a $1,000 fine and two concurrent five-year driver's license suspensions, leading to the dismissal of a DUI charge. Woods also received an additional $500 fine for refusing a urinary drug test.
Woods has not competed in a major or any professional golf since 2024, with injuries, including severe lower right leg injuries from a 2021 car crash and multiple back procedures, heavily restricting his playing time. His last tournament victory was at the 2019 Zozo Championship.
