TikTok has addressed the delayed removal of a livestream featuring celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, which reportedly showed footage of self-harm. Hilton was hospitalised on Tuesday, August 4, after local law enforcement was called to his home following emergency calls from viewers.

The Miami-Dade sheriff’s office confirmed that Hilton was safely transported and is receiving medical attention. TikTok has since stated that a moderator error was responsible for the delay in taking down the livestream, despite it being flagged within minutes. The platform claims clips from the livestream were removed within 90 seconds, and Hilton's account has been banned.

Hilton's family released a statement on his personal website on August 5, expressing gratitude for the support received and requesting privacy during this time. They added that their focus is on his well-being and that updates will be shared when possible.
