TikTok introduces voice comments and interactive features

TikTok is rolling out new interactive features for its comment sections, including voice comments, comment polls, photo carousel comments, and Live Photo comments.

  • Users can now leave voice comments up to one minute long.
  • Creators can add polls to their own video comments with up to five options.
  • Photo carousel comments allow up to nine photos, and Live Photo comments are also being introduced.

TikTok has announced an upgrade to its comment sections, introducing several new interactive features. These additions include voice comments, comment polls, photo carousel comments, and Live Photo comments.

Voice comments allow users to record and post audio messages up to one minute long by tapping a microphone icon in the comment box. These comments are subject to TikTok's Community Guidelines, with content identified and removed using human and automated detection tools, including speech-to-text transcription. Voice comments are set to roll out globally over the next month for users aged 18 and older.

Creators can now add polls when commenting on their own videos, a feature now globally available. These polls can have up to five options and a set timeframe, allowing creators to track results directly. Additionally, users can now include up to nine photos in a single comment with photo carousel comments, which will roll out globally over the next month. Live Photo comments, offering a brief burst of motion before viewing the full image, are now available globally.

Why this matters: The new features aim to deepen engagement on the TikTok platform by making comment sections more interactive.

What this means for you: If you are a TikTok user aged 18 or older, you will soon be able to use voice comments and other new interactive features in the comment sections.
