TikTok has permanently banned the advertising account for 'Musk', a four-hour documentary about Elon Musk. The film's distributor, Bleecker Street, was informed by TikTok that the account received a "permanent suspension" due to its political content.
This follows earlier resistance from other social media platforms. Meta and YouTube initially rejected ads for the documentary's trailer, though both platforms later permitted the ads, with Meta attributing its initial rejection to "an error." X, owned by Elon Musk, has also declined to carry advertisements for 'Musk'.
The documentary, directed by Oscar-winner Alex Gibney, opened in four theatres last weekend and is now expanding its release. It is scheduled to stream on HBO next year.
