Tim Curry, the actor celebrated for his role as Dr Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, died on August 25 at his home in Los Angeles. He was 80 years old.
Reports indicate that Curry died from coronary artery disease. Documents from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health also show that a history of stroke and kidney cancer contributed to his death, though they were not the direct cause.
Curry had openly discussed suffering a major stroke in 2012, which resulted in him using a wheelchair. His kidney cancer diagnosis had not been publicly disclosed prior to his death.
Born in Cheshire, England, in 1946, Curry's career spanned stage and screen, including roles in films such as Clue, It, and Annie. Following his 2012 stroke, he largely focused on voice acting, a field in which he had a prolific career and won an Emmy Award.
