Torres hat-trick fires PSG to 6-1 Champions League victory

Ferran Torres scored a hat-trick as Paris Saint-Germain began their Champions League title defence with a dominant 6-1 home win over Slovan Bratislava. Other winners on Wednesday included Barcelona, Sporting, and VfB Stuttgart.

Holders Paris Saint-Germain kicked off their Champions League title defence in emphatic style, securing a 6-1 home victory over Slovan Bratislava. New signing Ferran Torres was the star, netting a hat-trick for the Parisians, who are chasing a third successive Champions League title.

Ousmane Dembele contributed two goals before Torres's three successive strikes. Fabian Ruiz added a sixth goal two minutes from time, with Suleiman Camara scoring a consolation for the Slovak side. PSG were 5-0 up within 57 minutes, showing no signs of the rustiness that has marked their early domestic league form.

Elsewhere, Barcelona captain Raphinha scored twice in his side's 5-1 thrashing of Feyenoord. Karim Adeyemi, Lamine Yamal, and Gabriel Jesus also found the net for Barcelona. Coach Hansi Flick commented that "things look very good because we are training very hard and everyone is hungry."

Sporting also claimed a 3-1 win against Galatasaray, overturning an early deficit. Geny Catamo equalised, Luis Suarez converted a penalty, and Rodrigo Zalazar sealed the victory with a free kick. VfB Stuttgart secured a 3-1 home win over Viking Stavanger, with Ermedin Demirovic scoring a 12-minute first-half hat-trick.

Six more fixtures are scheduled for Thursday, including Manchester United at home to Azeri debutants Sabah.
