Tottenham Hotspur Women achieved a record-equalling fifth-place finish in the Women's Super League last season, closing the gap on fourth place from 10 points to four. This marks a significant improvement from their 11th-place finish in the preceding season, a rejuvenation attributed to manager Martin Ho.
The club has shown increased support for the women's team, with investment rising and turnover increasing from £3.39m in 2023-24 to £4.41m in the year ending June 2025. Their summer recruitment strategy has brought in top young talents like club-record signing Alice Sombath and goalkeeper Selma Panengstuen, alongside experienced WSL players such as Shekiera Martinez and Kirsty Hanson. The club secured their top five targets early to maximise pre-season training.
Manager Martin Ho expressed confidence in the squad's depth, stating, "As I’ve said to the players, we have a good enough squad with depth in it that we can really compete." The team secured three friendly wins, including a 5-0 victory over Bristol City, while suffering a 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid. Training intensity has been high, with Martinez noting, "The intensity is really high, the training has been really tough, so I can’t wait until the league starts."
Kirsty Hanson, who joined from Aston Villa, was the third-highest goalscorer in the WSL last season and the highest-scoring midfielder. Alice Sombath, a 22-year-old centre-back from Lyonnes, is also expected to make a significant impact. Tottenham will continue to play home games at Leyton Orient’s Brisbane Road, with select showpiece fixtures, including against Arsenal on 25 October and Manchester United in February, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
