  • Micky van de Ven is expected to agree a new five-year deal with Tottenham.
  • Arsenal's approach for Romero was rejected by Tottenham.

Tottenham are currently in discussions with Atlético Madrid concerning the potential sale of defender Cristian Romero. This development follows Tottenham's categorical rejection of an approach from Arsenal for the Argentina international.

Romero, 27, has reportedly expressed a desire to leave Spurs, despite having signed a new four-year contract at the beginning of last season. Atlético Madrid are understood to be his preferred destination and are reportedly prepared to match Internazionale's previous bid of around £35m for the player.

Meanwhile, Micky van de Ven is expected to commit his future to Tottenham by signing a new five-year deal. The Netherlands international was reportedly considering his future earlier in the summer, but the impact of new manager Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly persuaded him to stay after talks with his representatives.

Tottenham have already invested over £200m in six new players this summer and are still looking to acquire a new attacker. Manager Roberto De Zerbi stated last week that the club had "completed 60% of our project in the transfer market."
