Trabzonspor have rejected the resignation of head coach Fatih Tekke after the Turkish side's exit from the Europa League on Thursday night. The club stated that Tekke's decision stemmed from the "intense emotional impact" of being knocked out.

The Super Lig team suffered a 4-0 defeat by Ferencvaros in Hungary, resulting in a 5-0 aggregate loss in the play-off tie. Tekke, who led Trabzonspor to a third-place finish last season, tendered his resignation in the aftermath.

The club rejected the 48-year-old's resignation on Friday morning. Trabzonspor will now compete in the Europa Conference League this season and are set to discover their six league phase opponents on Friday.

The seven-time Turkish champions have been active in the transfer market, signing Mohamed Salah and Fabinho, and bringing Andre Onana back on loan. Salah, 34, joined Trabzonspor last month after mutually agreeing to end his contract at Liverpool.
