Tributes have been left at Gore Glen Woodland Park following the death of an 11-year-old girl. Her body was discovered in the park's Gore Water, near Shank Bridge, at approximately 16:25 on Thursday after a major search was launched.
Police Scotland stated that the death is currently being treated as unexplained, with inquiries ongoing. Officers remain at the scene. A post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death is understood to be scheduled for next week.
Floral tributes have been laid in the park since the incident was first reported on Friday. Colin Beattie, MSP for Midlothian North, described the incident as "deeply distressing" for the local community.
