Tributes are being paid to midfielder Quevin Castro, who died at the age of 25 after collapsing during a football match in Portugal on Saturday. Castro, who was born in Portugal but grew up in Thetford, Norfolk, had played for several non-league teams in East Anglia before signing for West Bromwich Albion in 2021.

The incident occurred in Lisbon while Castro was playing for Real Sport Clube in a friendly against Estrela de Amadora. Nigel Armes, chairman of Thetford Town FC, where Castro played from the age of 16, remembered him as an "immensely talented" teenager for whom "football was everything".

Castro made his debut for Championship side West Brom against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup. He also played for King's Lynn FC, Cambridge City FC, and Bury Town, all of whom have expressed their sadness at his passing. Thetford Town will hold a minute's silence at their home match against Harleston Town on Tuesday.
