Houseplant owners can trim crispy, brown leaf tips to enhance their plant's appearance, according to advice published today. This method is effective as long as only the dead tissue is removed, without cutting into the healthy green part of the leaf.
The technique involves using clean, sharp scissors and following the natural shape of the leaf. It is recommended to leave a thin sliver of the brown edge to avoid creating a fresh wound on the plant, which could cause new browning.
While trimming can improve aesthetics, persistently browning tips often indicate underlying issues such as inconsistent watering, low humidity, or a buildup of minerals from tap water or excessive fertiliser. Addressing these care problems is suggested for a long-term solution.
