US President Donald Trump hosted back-to-back meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday. Ukraine is seeking additional firepower for its air defenses, while the Israeli prime minister is reportedly attempting to mend his relationship with the US president.
This marked Mr Netanyahu’s first visit to the Oval Office since he and President Trump launched a joint military campaign against Iran on February 28. Their relationship has been complicated by Mr Netanyahu's continued push to fight Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon, even as President Trump has pursued diplomatic engagement with Tehran.
President Zelenskyy described his meeting as positive, stating he discussed licensing arrangements for Ukraine to manufacture its own interceptors for Patriot missile systems. He also mentioned discussions about reinvigorating the diplomatic process and expressed gratitude for US support. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated both meetings were "positive and productive!"
