Julie Gaskell and Simon Patterson have been appointed as Trustees to the National Gallery Board. These appointments were made by the previous Prime Minister.
Julie Gaskell's four-year term began on 1 August 2026 and is set to conclude on 31 July 2030. She brings experience as a sponsorship strategist across public, private, and cultural sectors, having advised on partnership development and stakeholder engagement. Her career includes contributions to initiatives such as the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and Liverpool's 2008 European Capital of Culture.
Simon Patterson's four-year term will commence on 1 January 2027 and end on 31 December 2030. He is the Chair of the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales and a Senior Partner at Silver Lake, a technology investment firm. Mr. Patterson has also served as a Non-Executive Director of Tesco plc and a Trustee of the Natural History Museum.
The appointments were made in accordance with the Cabinet Office's Governance Code on Public Appointments. Both Julie Gaskell and Simon Patterson have declared no significant political activity in the last five years.
