Uber has invested $10 million in Indian fleet management startup Carrum Mobility, a Series B round that values the company at around $168 million. This investment increases Uber's reliance on large fleet operators to provide vehicles and drivers in India.
Carrum Mobility, founded in 2024 by Karan Jain, currently operates approximately 5,100 vehicles across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata. The company has onboarded over 18,000 drivers and supplies vehicles for Uber Go, Premier, and Uber Black services in India.
Uber previously invested $7 million in Carrum in January, when the company's post-money valuation was around $63 million. Carrum's founder and CEO, Karan Jain, stated that Uber now holds a stake in the "mid-teens" in the company. Carrum plans to expand into more cities, strengthen its technology, and hire staff, aiming to more than double its fleet to about 11,000 vehicles within the next 12 months.
