The presidents of Uefa and Concacaf have written to Gianni Infantino, requesting that Fifa release money from its $6 billion (£4.5 billion) reserves to its member associations. Aleksander Ceferin and Victor Montagliani proposed a payout of at least $10 million to each of Fifa’s 211 member associations (MAs).
This proposed payout would be a one-off during the 2027-2030 commercial cycle and would be in addition to funds from Fifa’s existing Fifa Forward programme. The presidents stated that the plan to fund member associations via the Fifa Forward Enterprise scheme was unnecessary given Fifa's current cash reserves.
Ceferin and Montagliani also called for an independent review of Fifa’s financial position. Their own study "raises an important question as to whether the proposed transaction was necessary to deliver greater resources to the MAs."
The leaders intend for their proposal to be considered at the next Fifa Council meeting on 15 October.
