York Valkyrie Beat Leeds Rhinos to Reach Grand Final

York Valkyrie have secured their place in the Betfred Women's Super League Grand Final after defeating Leeds Rhinos 12-0 in a semi-final clash at AMT Headingley Stadium.

  • York Valkyrie defeated Leeds Rhinos 12-0 in the Betfred Women's Super League play-off semi-final.
  • York will face reigning champions Wigan Warriors in the Grand Final on September 27.
  • York's Tara-Jane Stanley will miss the Grand Final after failing a head injury assessment.

York Valkyrie have booked their spot in the Betfred Women's Super League Grand Final, overcoming Leeds Rhinos with a 12-0 victory in their semi-final showdown at AMT Headingley Stadium.

Leon Pryce's side scored tries through forwards Liv Wood and Adaoha Akwiwu in a closely fought contest. The win sets up a Grand Final clash against reigning champions Wigan Warriors.

A significant blow for York is the absence of influential stand-off Tara-Jane Stanley, who will miss the September 27 final at the Brick Community Stadium after failing a head injury assessment. Stanley's return from a two-year injury had coincided with York's recent run of four wins in five games.

Despite Leeds having inflicted heavy defeats on York in their two regular season meetings, the Rhinos entered the match on the back of four consecutive losses, with errors proving costly at crucial moments.
