The United Kingdom and the Philippines have finalised a government-to-government (G2G) Partnership today, 23 September 2026, aimed at strengthening bilateral trade cooperation on infrastructure. The agreement was signed by UK Trade Minister Lord Sarwar and Philippine Finance Secretary Federick Go.

This partnership will enable priority Philippine government infrastructure projects to be considered for support from UK Export Finance, the UK's export credit agency. UK Export Finance currently has up to £5 billion of capacity available for eligible projects in the Philippines.

The initiative is designed to provide the Philippines with access to competitive UK-backed finance and British expertise, goods, and services. Sectors including transport, clean energy, healthcare, water, digital infrastructure, and advanced technology are expected to benefit from this cooperation.

Minister of State for Trade, Anas Sarwar, stated that the partnership demonstrates the UK's commitment to building modern trade relationships that will deliver economic benefits, including jobs and growth, both domestically and internationally.

Why this matters: This partnership aims to drive economic growth for both the UK and the Philippines by connecting the Philippines with UK expertise and finance for infrastructure projects, and opening new opportunities for UK businesses.
